Quarterly Service Retreats
Our students get away once a quarter on weekend retreats that include worship, reflection, service projects, and fun! We gather with other students from UC Berkeley, UC Santa Cruz, San Francisco State, and Stanford - making this a great opportunity to make friends and network.
Generally we start on a Saturday morning at about 9 am by engaging in a service project. Often these projects are done in partnership with cutting-edge charitable organizations that help us to broaden our horizons as to the opportunities for service and social justice engagement in our world. After we break for lunch and complete our service, we generally have free time to explore, study, or sleep, and then we gather for dinner and an evening spiritual service. We sleep over wherever we are, and in the morning have breakfast, attend Sunday worship, and return home. This is a simple and wonderful way to make friends and gain insights for your spiritual path.

Spring Service Retreat
In spring 2009, CA House traveled to Santa Cruz, working at a food bank and at a community garden.
Fall Service Retreat
In fall 2008, CA House hosted students from the Belfry at UC Davis, FEAST at UC Santa Cruz, United Christian Campus Ministries at Stanford, San Jose State, Sac State, and staff from The Edge at SF State for a weekend retreat in Davis. The group worked at the Student Farm where they dekerneled popcorn and sorted beans for Students for Sustainable Agriculture. The retreat offered students the opportunity to reflect on how Jesus calls Christian students to be in relationship with the earth and be mindful of the food that we eat. Worship, led by Carolyn Talmadge from The Edge, was a time for song and shared reflection. Students spent the night at CA House and attended Davis United Methodist Church in the morning before heading home.
